Hello all!

At the request of :iconbeeleafnsea: (sorry I am so late with this!) for reasons of personal growth for all involved, I am opening up a

Critique sandwich!

Here's how it works: post a work of art or literature, et cetera in the comments section that you wish to receive a critique on, and the next person that wishes to have a work critiqued will critique the work before theirs and then post a work they would like to have critiqued.

That way everyone that participates will have their work critiqued at least once- but feel free to help others out!

A good way to critique, offered by :iconbeeleafnsea:, is the compliment sandwich method: where you say something you like about the piece, follow it with some constructive criticism, and follow that with something else you like about the piece.

Also it might help to list what exactly you are looking for in  critique: character design, panel flow, word flow, color choices, et cetera.

I will provide a link to this journal on the front page. Here's to growing as artists!

Cargo Sharks by Cirprius

Also a BIG thanks to the group co-founders :iconsoubivee::iconbeastgh0st::iconcirprius: for handling things in my wake.

As for the next challenge, Cirprius and I discussed,

Food!

:bulletblue:What is/are your character(s)' favorite(s)?
:bulletblue:Maybe an outfit inspired by their favorite(s)?
:bulletblue:Or your character(s) over a background of their favorite(s)?
:bulletblue:Maybe they like to cook, bake, or grill?
:bulletblue:Do they wear special clothes while cooking? Aprons?
:bulletblue:A favorite place to eat? A romantic dinner?
:bulletblue:Or maybe even food or chocolates as gifts for a certain holiday?

It's all up to interpretation! As always- this is a challenge- meaning the incentive to participate is for your own practice- think of it as a prompt! Those who decide to participate/ have a picture that follows the criteria for this challenge, please submit your pieces to the Challenge Folder, and the pieces will be featured in a journal entry on the front page of the group when the challenge is over! There is no limit to how many pieces you do either!

We are, however, are going to ask any participants to include the :iconocentric: icon in their description, so we can ensure that the entries in the challenge folder were submitted to the correct folder. Thanks so much! Usually we give a good few months before we close up the submissions to give time for those with a hefty plate. We will let you know at least a week in advance. Looking forward to the submissions!!!

Lots of great pieces this time around as well! Thanks so much for the entries!

A new challenge will be up shortly! Also thanks to 1000+ members!

New Challenge! Work!

After some discussion, the OCentric team has decided what the new challenge will be! Work! What do your characters do for a living? Secret Agent? Designer? Server? Aristocrat? Top business executive?

:bulletpink:Draw or write them on the job! What do they wear? What do they do?

:bulletpink:Are there crazy happenings on the job, or maybe it's more of a peaceful profession?

:bulletpink:Maybe their job isn't what others would call 'traditional'?

:bulletpink:If you have any more 'prompt' ideas, feel free to post them on this journal and I will include them in the entry!

Have fun with it! As always- this is a challenge- meaning the incentive to participate is for your own practice- think of it as a prompt! 2/6 New Challenge! Fancy!

So, a bit ago, we decided on a new challenge for the group! To draw or write your original characters in fancy attire/ in a situation that calls for fancy attire! This way, those that have Valentines-y pictures or writing can also qualify without it being a straight-up Valentine's theme. :]

:bulletpink:Maybe they are out having a romantic dinner?

:bulletpink:Or maybe they just want to dress fancy for a trip to the local supermarket?

:bulletpink:their definition of 'fancy' is completely different from the 'norm'!

:bulletpink:Maybe a night in the bedroom calls for some fancy wear~?

:bulletpink:If you have any more 'prompt' ideas, feel free to post them on this journal and I will include them in the entry!

Also, welcome new members to the group! Almost to 900! We hope you all enjoy your time here.

EDIT 6/22: The Fancy challenge end date will be at the end of the month, the 30th. All entries will be displayed on the front page of the group in a journal entry. Thanks for participating! A new challenge will be up shortly after!
((Added a challenge end date, took off featured from last challenge. Had been up for several months now.))

The new challenge theme will be: Sleepy Time! Draw or write your character near or during bed time!

:bulletpink: Your original character(s) in what they would wear to sleep in! Boxers, long sleep shirt, robe, maybe flannel, if anything at all?

:bulletpink: Do they have an extravagant bedroom with a canopy bed? Or do they sleep outside? Maybe they have a plush animal, or sleep with a nightlight.

:bulletpink: Maybe they dream of something, or have nightmares.

:bulletpink: Or maybe they have some sort of night-time ritual? Midnight snack, or brushing their hair before bed?

***The point of our challenges are to provide our members with food for thought and to help further develop their original characters! Plus all entries will be featured in a journal entry on the front page of the group for at least a month!***

Thanks for reading, and good luck!

Take care,

                 -MPhlox

**********Extended Challenge date because school and stuff. I don't really want to do a Halloween challenge because that is something you will find in many other groups, so I am extending the date for this challenge, probably for a good bit, until I find time, because when I find time, hopefully others will be able to find some time as well. :]

**************So- I want to set a definite date for the end of this challenge. I'm thinking December 20th. A Sunday. I still don't have time for anything because of this semester- but I figure this should give time to anyone else who wishes to participate and have their piece featured on the front of the group as incentive. :] This deadline also gives room to include Holiday-themed night-time rituals or jammies!!
